1. Breaking News! - "Gold is forever"
No longer would the Australians have the support of 10,000 screaming supporters on home turf, but only a roar of determined Brazilian followers.
The Australian Olympic Beach Volleyball team, Gold Medallists Natalie Cook and Kerri Pottharst were invited to Brazil last week for a rematch against the Brazilian team. The Brazilian’s were defeated in the Sydney 2000 Olympics and have tried to prove that it was a fluke that the Australians took home the Gold and that the deciding factor was the crowd.
The rematch was held in Brazil on December the 1st 2002 in front of a home crowd of 20,000 Brazilians and was played in 45-degree (c) heat. The first set was a win to Brazil 21 –12. Then Nat and Kerri turned on their magic and won the next set 21 –17. And it didn’t stop there! The victorious Aussie Gold medallists won the last set 15-13 and again took home the gold. Power is in the house!

Here we all are flying through space at an amazing speed on this small planet called earth. It really is a small planet in comparison to a lot of other planets that are in the Universe. I remember what one of the astronauts said as he stood on the moon and looked back at the earth, which to him was now the size of an American quarter (25 cent coin). He held his thumb up to the sky and as he was able to cover the entire earth with it, he thought, “ it is hard to believe that all of mankind’s struggles, dramas, wars and anger is all contained in the size of a quarter. It sure puts it all into perspective and in the universe how insignificant it really is.”
Yet for so many people they are buried in drama and they can’t see how petty most of the things that they are fighting about really are. In life we are faced with challenges everyday. So many people go through life facing off with everything that comes their way. Their life is like a soap opera, constantly filled with drama. They make everything into a boulder that blocks their path to the enjoyment of life. If you spend your life dealing with every confrontation that is presented to you there isn’t enough time left over for you to enjoy the quality of your life.
The truth is that so many of the events in your life that you are turning into boulders are really just pebbles in your shoe that are irritating you. When you want to stop being irritated by them, take off your shoe and shake the pebble out. Put back on your shoe and continue on your life’s path.
Choose your battles wisely. You don’t have to fight every fight just because it is there.
In the martial arts the teachers chose animal styles that represented the animals that they fight like. For example the tiger fights with great power and up right. There is the crane, the snake, and the drunken monkey. All were animals that the teachers could see in nature. Yet all of the masters are know as the dragons. The reason a master is considered to be a dragon is because it is a mythical beast that no one ever saw it fighting. What does that mean? That means that all real masters fight the invisible fight. A master is one who has so much personal power that they don’t have to fight. They have skills where they can stop the fight before it happens. A real master is one who not only does not fight; they also turn their foes into their friends or allies. That is a real master.
Lets go back and think about the coin again. On one side of the coin is heads and the other side is tails. Let’s call the heads side the right side and the tails side is the left side. Here’s the question. Which side of the coin makes it the coin, the right side or the left side? Now think about your answer. Which side of the coin is the coin, the right side or the left side?
The answer is they both are. You can not have the coin without both sides. There can’t be a left with out a right, a top without a bottom or an inside without an outside. No matter how thin you slice anything there is always going to be two sides two it. And it is the same with every event and circumstance that happens in your life there are always many sides to it. And it depends on what side you pay attention to, as to what is going to determine how you feel about it. For example, some people get laid off from their job and they are so devastated by it that they load up a weapon and go and shoot their coworkers. Then there are other people who get fired from their job and they think, “awesome, now I have the freedom to go do what I really want to do in life.”
So here is the strategy. Instead of being in reaction to everything that is happening in your life, start being proactive and start looking for a new meaning to the things that us to bother you. Seek and you will find. When you stop being reactive and start being proactive you become the co-creator of your life.
Ask yourself, “what is another way I can look at this or another meaning that I can give this that will make me feel better about it?” You may come up with many new ways. Which one do you take on board? The answer is the one that brings you the most peace, because when you are at peace you are in your spirit. When you are in your spirit you are inspired. Take responsibility for your life. Responsibility means that you have the ability to choose your response to any situation.
