The Story of Farmer John

Farmer John was looking through his barn to see what seeds he had left for this year’s crop.  What he planted last year didn’t have much appeal at the markets and wasn’t a very successful crop.  It’s been this way for farmer John for the last few years.  It seems that he is stuck in rut when it comes to what he grows every year.

As he was looking through his barn he found a bag of “X” seeds.  “X” is what he planted last year and the years before.  Farmer John told himself that this year was going to be different.  He dreamed of having a successful crop this year.  He fantasized about all of the wonderful things that he was going to experience once he got wealthy from taking his crop to market.  Every year for the past number of years Farmer John has had these dreams and for the past number of years he has had to put them on the back burner because his crop of “X” didn’t sell very good in the market.

As Farmer John picked up his bag of “X” seeds and walked out into his field he once again dreamed about how things were going to be different.  He took out one “X” seed from his bag and planted it in his field.  He watered that “X” seed and nurtured it and it wasn’t long and he had grown an “X”.  It looked just like the “X” that he had grown last year.  As he looked at his “X” that he just grew and he wasn’t very happy because it reminded him about how poorly it did last year and how once again he had to put his dreams on hold because of it.

As Farmer John stood there once again he dreamed about how things could be if only his circumstances and conditions were different.  So he reached into his bag of “X” seeds and planted a whole crop of them.  Then he watered and nurtured those “X” seeds until they grew big and strong.  He harvested his crop of “X” that he grew and brought it to market only to be disappointed once again.  What he grew was more of the same thing.  He planted the same type of seeds and he just got more of the same.

Seeing how disappointed and feeling down Farmer John was, Farmer Bob asked Farmer John what was troubling him.  Farmer John told Farmer Bob how when he planted one “X” seed he got one “X”  to grow and when he planted a lot of “X” seeds he just got a lot more of the same thing.  And that thing that he got isn’t what he wanted.

Farmer Bob understood Farmer John’s challenge told him that he too used to have a lot of “X” growing in his fields too and he too wasn’t happy about it.  That’s when he decided to get some “Y” seeds and plant them.  That’s when Farmer Bob’s life turned around.  “Y” is a much better crop and has created the wealth that has given Farmer Bob the freedom to live out his dreams and have the wonderful experiences that he has always wanted to have.

Farmer John heard Farmer Bob’s story and listened to his advice and went back to his farm and planted a crop of “X” seeds.  That next harvest season Farmer John was once again disappointed because he still was growing a lot more of the exact thing that he didn’t want.  Farmer Bob tried to tell him, but Farmer John was to lazy to take the new action to go and start planting some new seeds.

The moral of this story is that “X” represents the thoughts that you currently are having.  Understanding that everything starts with a thought first. 

Is there anything that you can think of that didn’t start with a thought first?  The answer is “No” there is not.  The thoughts that you have create the actions that you take and the actions that you take produce the results that you get.  This is the formula for all of creation. 

So in order for you to stop producing the results that you don’t want any more and to start producing the results that you do want you are going to have to start with some new thoughts, now. 

You can’t look at your current situation and think that those thoughts are going to help you achieve what you want in your life.  You can’t look at your current bank balance to help you create the wealth that you want.  You are going to have to start right now thinking about what it is that you do want in your life.  Focus your thoughts on where you are going not where you have been or where you are.

This is Farmer Bob talking to you.  I’m explaining to you that when you stop planting “X” (Which is your old way of thinking) and you start planting “Y” (Which represents your new thoughts) you are going to start growing your dreams into a reality. 

Why is it that Farmer John should have listened to Farmer Bob?  Because Farmer Bob was actually producing the results.  He planted “Y” and was enjoying the results.  Farmer Bob also knows a lot of other successful farmers who also ware planting “Y” and they too are reaping the rewards.  You can’t grow wealth when scarcity mentality is occupying your mind.

Are you a Farmer John who is going to read this and go back to your old ways or are you now making the decision to be Farmer Bob and start planting your new crop?  Remember, as you sow, so shall you reap.

Start planting the thoughts in your mind on the goals that you have and the dreams that inspire you.  The more you focus on that you quicker they will get you to start taking new actions which will produce your new results.
